July is National Blueberry Month. Celebrate all the health benefits of blueberries – the latest brain food. Blueberries are among the fruits with the highest amount of antioxidants, which may help fight aging, cancer and heart disease. Blueberries are also packed with dietary fiber and vitamins A and C.

While they’re in-season, buy extra and freeze them to eat later. Berries will not stick together if you freeze unwashed, allowing you to take the exact amount you need. Remember to wash when you are ready to eat. Blueberries taste great sprinkled over whole-grain cereal or yogurt, added to salads, or just by themselves – or as I do, fill my bowl with the blue pearls and add 1/2 c. dry cereal and some milk on top.
